Players in MCN space - What should you expect?

I find it very interesting, when I talk to my peers and read some relevant reports done by 3rd party research companies, that when you look at MCN space there are different players that will have an impact on the MCN ecosystem.

Multi-cloud from the scratch – a new wave of companies that are trying to have a completely new approach.

There is a group of startups being funded in the venture community to help solve complex MCN challenges.

Some names you will find in every research you do includes Prosimo.io , Aviatrix, Alkira, Arrcus, Graphiant etc.

On the other hand, we have a traditional incumbent networking and cloud software providers who will continue to add functionality to their existing platforms to enable MCN.

Someone can assume that some of these functions could be built organically but my personal belief is that incumbent technology providers will go in the direction of acquisition.

No one should be surprised if I say these names Cisco, HPE, IBM, Juniper, Vmware and the list go on and on

Considering that I’ve spent a lot of time throughout my carrier working with Telcos I know that they see the opportunity in MCN space.

Their chance is in taking their global networking resources and integrating it with cloud services and next-generation MCN provisioning tools to make it easier for customers to leverage cloud networks.

To be able to do that I believe it’s very important to choose partnership (among MCN startups) very wisely.

Someone will say hey Igor and what about IaaS and PaaS providers?

Personally, based on the data from the field, I don’t see that customers will choose that path, considering a freedom of choice the focus will be on 3rd party MCN solutions.

On the other side of the spectrum, you will find cloud NaaS and middle-mile services.

If you take a deeper look NaaS and middle-mile service providers don’t have fully featured MCN platforms.

When it comes to SD-based feel of orchestration of connectivity across clouds, they could contribute in that area.

What about Equinix ?

They are building out their cloud networking capabilities, and they see MCN capabilities as key to helping their customers connect with public cloud infrastructure.

The large colocation and datacenter providers are likely to continue to make moves to enable more extensive cloud networking integration for customers.

How does Prosimo see it?
