Cloud Networking Challenges   If you think about cloud networking challenges these groupings can start making sense to you:   Operating at Cloud Speed  - the biggest reason enterprises move to the cloud is the ability to deploy applications with greater speed and agility.  Increasing MTTR  - Here we are defining Day-1 Operations as the work involved for managing the lifecycle of the infrastructure carrying the apps, and the troubleshooting efforts needed to lower the MTTR and meet SLAs. Increasing Cloud Costs  - As an Enterprise increases its cloud footprint, the operational costs add up. With an ever-growing gap in cloud skills, taking a DIY approach to add more headcount exacerbates the problem. Poor Reliability of Network & Apps  - Enterprises are increasingly loo...

Players in MCN space - What should you expect?

I find it very interesting, when I talk to my peers and read some relevant reports done by 3 rd party research companies, that when you look at MCN space there are different players that will have an impact on the MCN ecosystem .     Multi-cloud from the scratch – a new wave of companies that are trying to have a completely new approach .   There is a group of startups being funded in the venture community to help solve complex MCN challenges.   Some names you will find in every research you do includes Prosimo.io , Aviatrix, Alkira, Arrcus, Graphiant etc.   On the other hand, we have a traditional i ncumbent networking and cloud software providers who will continue to add functionality to their existing platforms to enable MCN.   Someone can assume that some of these functions could be built organically but my personal belief is that incumbent technology providers will go in the direction of acquisition .   No one ...

Multi-cloud networking - Why has it taken so long?

Multi-cloud networking universe A couple of terms to understand. Private cloud:  A private cloud describes a datacenter built with current cloud technologies that runs “on-premises,” or is hosted and managed by an organization or an enterprise itself .   Public cloud:  a  public cloud is a pool of virtual resources—developed from hardware owned and managed by a third-party company—that is automatically provisioned and allocated among multiple clients through a self-service interface. It’s a straightforward way to scale out workloads that experience unexpected demand fluctuations. Today’s public clouds aren’t usually deployed as a standalone infrastructure solution, but rather as part of a heterogeneous mix of environments that leads to higher security and performance; lower cost; and a wider availability of infrastructure, services, and applications. Multicloud:  Enterprises might need services or resources from multiple IaaS or PaaS services, such as Amaz...
